SIG
KLEIN
Sig
was born in Germany in 1902, but his family moved to Cleveland,
Ohio (USA) the following year. As a boy, he became fascinated
with the strongman Vaudeville shows that came to the theatres
in Cleveland, and by the age of 17 he was lifting weights.
In
3 years, Sig had already built a good enough physique to seek
out the great Professor Attila in New York City in 1926, but
the Professor had passed away only a short time before. Instead,
he had negotiations with Attilas widow, and re-opened the
Professors recently closed gym. It was a profitable decision
both in terms of business, and in love, for Sig married the
professors youngest daughter, as well. He later opened his
own studio and it was Klein (who loved gadgets and experimentation
in training) who began to methodically test the weightlifting
equipment, movements and exercises that produced the most
rapid and best results for building muscle size and definition.
Sig
was a true believer in the power of natural bodybuilding and
its relationship towards good health and longevity... he was
right, he lived to the ripe old age of 85 in 1987. We owe
Sig a debt of gratitude for helping develop the standards
and techniques of modern bodybuilding we use to this day.
