Sandow photographed by Sardony

Photograph taken iin New York, 1893. Napoleon Sardony (1821-1896) photographed some of the most famous people of the late 19th century. Besides the many images he took of Sandow, he also photographed Oscar Wilde, Sara Bernhardt, and Walt Whitman. Sardony seemed less interested in Sandow's physique, and more in the strength of his character. Sandow seems to have a far more friendly and approachable expression through Sardony's lens.
