Sandow
Imitates Art
One
of the finest of his images. Here, Sandow imitates the famous
sculpture of a soldier drawing a sword from a scabbard in
battle. At the time, great heros were seen in the paintings
and sculptures in museums. Sandow brought those heros to life
through photographs like this one. Sandow caught the imagination
of the Victorians when they saw his photographs. This was
no classical marble work of art, but a REAL living and breathing
MAN!
