SANDOW: Light and Shadow
Photographers
began to experiment with light and shadow at the turn of
the century, and Sandow proved to be an excellent and willing
subject for their lenses. The play of shadows and light
on his musculature was far more interesting than on immovable
white marble statues. It was with subjects like Sandow that
photographers could hone their art to a greater degree in
those early days.
