Personally, of his own photographs, Sandow liked this one the best. Taken in 1894. It isn't difficult to see that this pose is clearly inspired by the ancient Roman sculpture he was so influenced by as a boy. Sandow also had this photographed used as the basis for the cover of his second book "Strength and How to Obtain It" (below)
